Remove the filters from the hood

Different companies have different methods of detaching the filters from the hood but there is no specialization required to remove the filters. They are installed inside your hood, and in most of the hoods, you will just have to push your filter in the upward direction and it will easily come sliding out from the hoods.

Now after you have removed the filter, you have different options to clean them.

  • By soaking the filters in Ammonia
  • By using the Dishwasher Detergent
  • By soaking the filters in Dish soap and Baking soda
  • By using Dishwasher

By soaking the filters in Ammonia

Generally, it is called deep cleaning without any scrubbing. Scrubbing requires too much effort from your side to get it clean and shiny, while there is an easy to go method. Use ammonia to reduce the efforts from your side. You will have to take any bag, a large garbage bag or a bag with zip will work fine. You will have to pour the ammonia in the bag and then close it properly or you can tie the bag. Ammonia smells very strong and so sealing the bag will deter the smell coming out. Keep the bag on the flat surface. Leave it aside for 8 to 9 hours. Remove the filters and wash them with hot water. The grease will get removed.

By using the Dishwasher Detergent

Dishwasher’s liquid is strong enough to remove the grease very easily. You will first have to take a baking pan which is larger than the filters and then you will have to put the filter on the baking pan, pour some hot water on it. After this, you will have to pour sufficient detergent over the greasy filter. Use a toothbrush to spread the detergent evenly over the filter. Make sure you cover all the holes. Keep the filter aside for a minimum of 20 minutes. Wash it and you will have the grease-free filter.

By soaking the filters in Dish soap and Baking soda

First, use the sink stopper. Now fill the sink using hot water. Add dish soap and baking soda, stir well until the suds appear. Now add the filters in the sink and leave for a minimum of 20 minutes and if there is more grease, then you can eventually increase the timings. Remove the filter after that and then scrub it using an old toothbrush. Wash it with hot water and let it dry.

By using Dishwasher

If you have a dishwasher, it’s good to clean the filters very easily and quickly. You will have to put the filters in the dishwasher, add the dishwasher liquid or detergent, with the steam produced by the dishwasher and the sprayed water, the cleaning will be best.
